Happy Feet At the Manhattan ASPCA
RD Weis Companies Helps Create "Monster Park"
Port Chester, NY ... A 2,000 square foot converted parking garage is now a rehabilitation center and indoor exercise area for the rescued dogs in the ASPCA's 92nd Street headquarters in Manhattan.
RD Weis Companies, working with Paul Bonacci and Lucinda Schlaffer of ARQ Architects, installed hygienic and comfortable rubber tile flooring. Easy and fast to clean, the "Deep Sea" colored floor will cushion the dogs' feet and deaden noise.
Randall Weis, President of RD Weis Companies, said that the rubber floor quiets noisy barking and creates a calm space. "Rubber is also wonderfully gentle on feet and paws," Mr. Weis continued. "It eases stress. And it's very easy to clean. We are immensely proud to have been a part of helping the ASPCA offer their rescued animals this magnificent space to run and play-with the absolute best in comfort and hygiene."
In accordance with the RD Weis Companies commitment to a healthy environment, these rubber tiles are made from a renewable resource, which is supplemented by raw mineral materials and environmentally compatible color pigments. These rubber floor coverings are certified as low VOCs by Greenguard and contribute to improved indoor air quality.
Named Monster Park in honor of donor David Merin's late dog, a Shepherd mix named Monster, the renovation was paid for with donations from the David Merin Foundation, the Laura J. Niles Foundation, and Lois Collier.
